With the help from Francis A. Walker and information from the United States Census Office, data was collected to help display information upon the chart. The upper right hand corner shows a key to distinguish what each color represents on the chart. The size of the squares for each race and population of each state establishes the amount of people within that state. The upper left hand corner of the chart provides a further, more in depth explanation of the squares.
