The main thesis of this field of research, which today has long since been considered antiquated, was that intellectual abilities and individual personality traits are associated with specific areas of the brain. Through meticulous brain dissections, measurement of individual skulls, and the detailed mapping of the brain, researchers attempted to demonstrate these relationships.
